DEFENCE OF AUSTRALIA
NEED FOR STRONG NAVY.
LORD JELLICOE'S VIEWS.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Ccipyright. BRISBANE, August 1. (Received Aug: 1, at 8.15 p.m.) - Lord Jellicoe, in replying to a welcome at Gladstone, said that Australia meant real business in preparing to defend her stores by the establishment of naval bases. It would be necessary to have a strong navy, backed by the British fleet to stop them. '
