EMPIRE THEATRE

Th© new programme at the Empire Iheatre is m every respect quite on an equality with those that luivo been screened previously. Chief among the pictures is a Players Lasky production called "A Woman of Impulse," founded on Louis K. Am. pacher's play. Lina C-avalieri fills the leading role with marked success, and the artists supporting her sustain their parts in a . highly commendable manner. The story tells how Leonora, who has a beautiful voice, is overheard singing bv some tourists.' She is living with her sister Nina at an Italian village, and the tourists, after hcar : ing her sing, take her and her sister to Paris. There Leonora, on making a publio appearance, carries all before her, and becomes the rage o£ the operatic world. Nerval, a Spamsn noble, falls in love with her, and they are married. Leonora is- introduced to Nerval's cousin, Philip Gaudineer, who is given to libertine propensities. The Nervals and Nina go to America for a tour, and there they again fall in with Philip, who makes lovo to Nina; and Leonora, fearing that her sister will compromise herself in sbme way, sets to work to put a stop to the intimacy. Nina has, prior to this, fallen in love 'with a young doctor whom she, has met on the boat. There is a. week-end visit to the homo of Philip's mother in New Orleans, and here some curious complications occur. Everything is, nowover, eventually cleared up, but not before a number of strange adventures are passed through and misunderstandings removed " A Woman of Impulse" is exceedingly well placed before the spectators, and is strongly supported bv other pictures of great interest. The same programmo will be screened to-day.
