THE RAILWAY RESTRICTIONS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, I think the public generally has taken the present rniUv; r crisis in far too nonchalant a maimer. It appears to me that there lias been gross negligence sctaiowhere. Why should the full brunt of this disorganisation be foisted on the community so suddenly? Was sufficient foresight excrqised by the departmental officials? I cannot imagine a reputable private enterprise getting into so deep a quagmire. 1 question whether there is a parallel to the present debaele in the commercial history of any community. While boards, associations, politicians, and economists have been crying' "efficiency, efficiency" during tho war years, peace comes and finds our transport system— which sliouid bo the efficient vehicle and dependable arm of our dominion commerce —effete and impotent.
