COAL HOARDING ON WEST COAST.

A CATEGORICAL DENIAL. (Pkb United Press Association.) GREYMOUTI-I, July 31. With reference to the statement made by Mr W. T. Young, general secretary of the New Zealand Seamen's Union, that there were thousands of tons of coal on the West Coast waiting to be taken away, after making exhaustive inquiries throughout this district, it is clear that the above statement is quito erroneous, as there are absolutely no stocks of coal in tho bins in the various mines, and it is a common occurrence for steamers at this port to bo delayed waiting for coal. They are often compelled to sail short-loaded, owing to coal not being forthcoming.
