TANGIER, July 25 (delayed). An oyo-witness of the- recent fighting describes how a Spanish column of 170 men was entrapped and massacred in a ravine at Belau. Spies warned Raisuli of the approach of the troops. Tribesmen disguised in Spanish uniforms hurled small German poison bombs, and many Spaniards fell insensible. The tribesmen, protected by gas masks, using their daggers, leisurely ''completed the slaughter, mostly by cutting the victims' throats. Only 10 Spaniards escaped. Their commander committed suicide.
Raisuli heavily defeated another column of 600 mixed Spaniards and native troops, attempting to attack at Bethaman. The column lost its transport, and the wounded suffered terribly owing to the scarcity of ambulances.—The, Times. V
