ST. KILDA COUNCIL
Tho ordinary mooting of the St. Kilda Borough Council was held last night; present—die Mayor (Mr A. D. Edgar) and Crs Dove, Tel for, Ritchie, Garbutt, iJall. Soddon, Smeotou, Longworth, Campbell, and Donsem.
Mr A. N. Price supplied particulars of repairs required to the piano, which would cost £4- Vis.— lt was resolved to have the work done.

The secretary of tho Otago Rugby Union applied for the use of Alexandra Park, stat ing that ho understood it was not required for hookey.—Tho cleric was instructed to refer tho union to the Indies' Hockey Asiu ciation.
'The Rev. jVl r Hopper invited the Mayor and councillors, also, members of the St. Kilda Band and Fire Brigade, to anniversary church services on August 17.—The council accepted the invitation, and instructed tho clerk to refer it to the band and tho brigade. Mr It. O. Walsh wroto stating that he had bought 13 gratings for £1 from tho foreman, who had later returned tho money with the remark that there was some dispute in the council about it. He was still waiting to get the gratings, and would like to Ret delivery as soon as possible.—Cr Ritchio moved that Mr Walsh be given the gratings. He maintained that the foreman's action in tak- ■ ■<<.' i;n> money constituted a sale, and that tho foreman did wrong in returning it.—Cr Seddon seconded the motion.—Or Smeftton : t am going to move that wo go into committee.—Cr Hall said there waß no need to go into committoo ovor the matter, which was on the order paper in the usual wav. There was nothing to hide.—Cr Longworth said he would oppose the motion. The matter had been thrashed out before, and it had been shown that Mr Walsh gave the foreman £1 in the belief that he was getting a very good bargain. When it was taken to Mr Dick he said it was too small a price, ;ind the foreman promptly returned the money.—The motion was carried by six votes to three.
The question of the insurance on the hall was referred to the Finance Committee. It was stated that the council was paying at the rate of 15s per cent., including a premium to cover the running of a picture-show in the building.
