MEETING OF TEACHERS. (Peb United Phes3 Association.) WELLINGTON, July 28. The Wellington branch of the Educational Institute to-night passed a resolution that every teacher should receive, besides his fixed saltyy, an increase eaual to the increase in the cost of living, this increase to take effect from 1914. The institute decided to supnort t?ie Canterbury branch in asking that. tho weekly attendance should be substituted for the average attendance in fixing the.trades of primary schools. Teachers urged that' the schools ought to be graded and staffed on their roll without regard to fluctuations in attendance caused by bad weather or other factors. The branch passed a resolution that the opinion of this branch is that the present grading scheme is most unsatisfactory, and oujrht to be abolished. It was also decided thsre should be only ono graded list for teachers, and that tho grading should be based on efficiency, service, and literary attainments.
