KUROW NOTES

(Fsom Oce Own Corbespondent.) KUROW, July 28. On Sunday, July 13, a combined peace thanksgiving service was held in the Publio Hall. The service, which was very largely attended, was conducted by the Rev. John Craig (Presbyterian) and the Rev. W. V. Willis (Church., of England). On Sunday, July 20, special thanksgiving services were held throughout tho Presbyterian parish On Monday, July 21, a large number of people assembled to enjoy a day's sport. After lunch had been partaken of the people indulged in games, races, and competitions of various descriptions, and in the evening there was an entertainment in the hall. So far this part of the country has had a very seasonable winter. Although the frosts wero severe at tho beginning of the winter, tho nights have been very mild for some time. There has been practically no snow in and around Kurow, and the falls in the back country have not been serious enough to do much damage to stock. Even if snow does fall now it will not lio long. A shadow was cast over the peace celebrations by the tragic death of Mr John M. Cone, an old and respected resident of the district When returning from tho sports Mr M'Cono fell out of his trap and died from the -injuries received. The funeral was very j largely attended. Mr M'Cone leaves a widow and six children.
