OPENING SHOOT OF THE SEASON. Tho president's shoot, the opening iroeeting of the season, was fired by members of the Dunedin Gun Club at tho north end of Tahuna Park on Saturday. The attendance was one of the biggest in the history of the club, some 50 or 60 members and friends boing present. Mr Oapcll (Balclutha) was one of the competitors. Prior to commencing the shoot the president (Mr R. Conn) entertained the. company at luncheon. He extended a cordial welcome to members and visitors, and expressed the hope that the season would bo a most successful one, remarking that the trophy money for the season (£7O) was the biggest amount offered in competition. The toasts of "The King," "Dunedin Gun Club," " Visitors," '.' Trophy Givers," and "The Press" were honoured; and the gathering adjourned to the field after a most enjoyable function. The opening shoot was a 16 bird match and the light failed before the competitors had got more than about 10 off. There was somo good shooting, however, early in the afternoon. The first prize was won by Mr A. White, and the second by Mr G. Turner. The scores were as follows:—A. White 13, G. Turner 12 (won in shoot off). G. Porter 12, J- W. King 12, H. King 11, A.
