At tho meeting' of the Taieri County Council on Friday, the Finance Committee roportod that tlio receipts for the month w*u-e £130 13a 6d, and recommended the payment of accounts totalling £1467 7s 6d. Ihe bank book showed a debit balance of £1a57 16s lid.—Adopted. Tho Town Clerk, Dunedin, wrote stating that Uio Qty Council would receive a deputation on Monday evening regarding the upkeep of tho Kaikorai Valley road.—The chairman, Or Blackio, Cr Scott, the onguicer and the clerk were appointed as tho council s representatives The Brighton Coal Company wrote regaining the upkeep of tho road to its mine. J ho company v«is prepared to pay £50 for tlio past use of the .toad, and would pay a further srum provided tin Government would pay tho promised subsidy of £250. —Work to bo proceeded with as soon as a reply from tho Mines Department is received. Mr J as. Logie askod for exemption from clauses of the Act requiring fenco to be placed 33ft from tho centre of tho road lino in connection with his proposed subdivisoin of 16 .-'.ores in block XI. East Taieri district.—Exemption granted; similar request from {ho Ota-go Farmers' Co-operative Association and Messrs John Reid and Sons was also granted. In connection with the levying of ratea. it was decided that as iiifiioient funds wove in hand, there would be no need to call up tho special rate in South Taieri this year. In connection with Mr Alexander's request regarding a ditch on the Brighton road, it was resolved that the applicant be notified if he cleaned his portion of tho ditch the council would consider doing , tho balance.
