SALE OF MEAT IN AUCTION ROOMS.

TO TIIE EDITOB

kin, —I was surprised to see tho report of the commit, too of tho City Council on tlio proposal to allow meat to bo sold in one of the auction rooms. Tho committco says that tho place in question does not comply in any respect with tho by-laws Is there any butcher's shop in this city which does? How many shops have cement or other similar floors?

The room referred to has a cement floor and as I visited it regularly at-sale t,im<te I can say that there was ;lii entire absence of tho steaming meaty smells wl»ich arc so common in the butchers' shops, and which are to me most objectionable. If this auction room is unsanitary, 1 am sorry for the butchers' shops.—l am, etc., ~ SAUCE i'ou TOE Gander. Dunedin, .July 23.
