THE DIGGINGS AND THE WEST COAST.

{To the Editor ofthe Daily Timks.) Sir,—ln a former communication 1 stated as my conviction that our richest auriferous deposits would be found on the West Coast, 1 at the same time gave my reasons for making such an assertion, aud am now glad to find that such assertion must, before Ion«----prove a substantial fact, inasmuch as the Dunstan diggings are daily being pushed on towards it. and are now only a few miles from ifc, ma direct line, (and it is worthy of no'ice that as the coast is approached the gold found assumes a more nu^etty character.) Of course I not not anticipate thatpersons will bs. able to travel iv a direct line from the Dunstan to the coast. On the contrary I apprehend it will be rather a circuitous route, but such route, I believe, will prove beneficial, as it will aftbgd a greater scope to prospect tlie country; and believing, as I do that the majority of such country will prove highly auriferous, 1 trust that the Government, at ""this favorable season of the year, will use every energy in pushing forward the thorough exploration of the West Coast, whicli at the present is a terra incognita, but still possessing the richest auriferous and other mineral deposits. lam, &c, Dunediu, 25th November, 1862.
