FREQUENT instances having occurred of Desertion from Her Majesty's Sea aad Laud Forces in this Colony, Notice is hereby given, that the most rigorous proceedings will be taken against any person enticing away, harboring, concealing, or employing Deserters. Naval Deseriioh. j 10 and 11 Viet., chap. 62, sec, 11. And be it enacted, That every person who, by word 3or any other iueans whatsoever, shall persuade any person in Her Majesty' 3 Navy to desert, or improperly absent himself from his duty, shall forfeit j and pay the sum of twenty pounds for every such | act; and every person who shall assist or procure any ; person in Her Majesty's Navy to desert, or impro- j perly absent himself trom his duty ; or shall conceal employ, or continue to employ any person belonging ! to Her Majesty's Navy, who shall be a deserter, or ; improperly absent from his duty, knowing him to b«> | such a desertor, or so improperly absent, shall forfeit and pay the sum of thirty pounds for every such assistance, procurement, concealment, employment, or j contmuiutf of employment, as aforesaid. 1' j iUmus Dkseetiox. j 21 Viet., cap. 7, sec. 54. j " Any person who shall, in any part of Her Majea- ! y'3 dominions, by words or any other means whatso- ; ever, directly or" indirectly, procure any Marine to j desert ; or Khali by words or by any other means"T whatsoever, attempt to procure or persuade any Ma- ; rino to desert; and any person who, knowing that Marine is about to desert, shall aid or assist him in j deserting ; or, knowing any Marine to be a deserter, I «hall conceal su.'h deserter, or aid or assist surti > 'eserter in concealing himself, or aid or waist m his | rescue, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, ! and shall, on conviction thereof, be liable to be j punished by fine or imprisonment, or both, as the Court before which such conviction shall take place may adjudge.
