Dunedin Customs, June sth, 1862. The quantity of gold entersd to-day amounted to 48oz. 14dwts., upon which the duty levied was £5 The imports realised £356 6s. 2d. 1 . June 6th, 1862. The quantity of gold entered to-day amounted to 151oz. 18dwts., upoa wjiich the duty levied was £18 19s. 9d The imports realised £910 4s. sd. Messrs. E. De Carie and Co. report that provisions still retain the advanced rates. Goods' to arrive find ready purchasers. Hams. Is. 7^d.; bacon, none; butter, 2s. to 2a. 2d.; Cork, 1?. 2d. to Is. 4d.; inferior. 6d. to BJ, ; cheose, first quality, la, 2d.; second quality, 7.Jd.; caiidle3, 13. B^d.; tallow, €>id. Flour, Tery little variation.- Teas of good brands command high prices, but are very scarce. Coffee in raw state, but little offering-. Alus and porters not much in demand. Bulk, £7 10s. to £8 10s. ; bottled ales, | market glutted. Fine brandies very scarce ; second and inferior qualities', therefore, sell at remunerative prices. Tobacco.. and cigars have advanced considerably, and they understand that one of the largest houses iv Melbourne have bought to a very considerable extent at a high figure, 'limber market rather depressed, iv 'consequence1 of heavy arrivals. Hard-wood-is more in demand, and 'inquiries* have been made for 10 x Jin 'large quantities. Business on the ■whole brisk, and, if fine weather continues, an active tracl'e 'through the winter may be expected. Business sites are"much inquired after, aud several sales have been made" by them at highly satisfactory prices. *
Duel. —M. de Bonin, a first lieutenant of the Dragoons of the Prussian Guard, and M. de Roulet, of Neuchatel, formerly''an officer in t'.ie Prussian cavalry, fought a duel with pistols, in a forest between Korcliand Lezelhurst, a f'ewdnys ago. The two ■hots .occurred so simultaneously that tlis seconds! at flrst'thoiight but one of tlie parties had fired, but' at. the same-moment M de Houlct uttered* a piercing cry/anil foil dead, struck by the hall of his adversary above the left eye. Two hours after tiie due', a relatiyeof M. de Koulet arrived at the theatre of the event, charged by the mother of the unfortunate yopng man, a 7 wealthy widow of Nuuchstel, to bringabout a'reconciliation botween her only son and -M. tie Bi6nin. —M. do lloulot'wns a fine yountf man, twe.nty-six years ot age; and' belonged to one of-the most respectable families of the caiiton of Neuchatel. —Engtis'i Paper. .
