The ship Abbot Lawrence, which has for some time past been expected from the Bluff, has at length arrived, and Captain Patterson's report coincides with the impression which prevailed as to the eaus<? of her protracted absence. The Abbot Lawrence made the passage from Melbourne to Stewart's Island in six days, and, after being detained under that Tslaud during the prevalence of a severe gale, she reached the Bluit and discharged her freight of about 5000 sheep, with very little loss. On the 17th of llayshe sailed.from the Bluff, and on the morning of the following day was off Otago Heads, when a violent gale came on, and drove her off the coast. The gale continued at sea with greater or less intensity for nine days, during which time tho ve3=el drove for about 80*0 miles to the northward and eastward, losing some of her heavier canvas. The gale, which blew from 5.3. W., was accompanied by frequent and heavy showers of hail and snow, and, having been succeeded by several gales of less severity, it was not until Wednesday, the 4th, that the vessel was again ablo to make the land, which she did about forty miles to the northward of the Heads. . Ninety-five miles north she was spoken by thu Omeo. and at noon to-day reikched the anchorage ground at Port Chalmers.
