Sik—ln your issue of February 16t!i, you have an article, on "Acclimatisation," and mention the existence of the Acclimatisation Society of Victoria., Referring to. this, I have the honor to inform you that the Council of this Society, at the .-■instijrution of. the Acting President, Dr. 'Thomas Black (who-has a large interest in the prosperity of the Middle Islam), especially of Otagg), iias passed a resolution offering to cooperate in every way with any persons in your district who may be disposed to nid the cause.

The plan, tlio Council have proposed is,. for •your Province to place them in funds, and for them to. expend these funds sis you may direct, as ■they think that the money may be much more profitably expended by the aid of their staff" than, it could be' if a'separate establishment and staff were to be'supported at Otago. I have by this steamer forwarded a copy of this resolution to the several Superintendents of Otagb, Nelson, and Canterbury, together with various information upon the subject. I have likewise sent' to your care a copy of the rules and objects of this Society, and a copy of a valuable lecture on the subject of "Acclamatisatioii," delivered iin Sydney by Dr. George Bennett. 'i I may also just say, that the Council are in correspondence with liis Excellency, Sir George Grey, about supplying certain animals to Auckland. ..My object, of course, in addressing you, is to enlist the aid of your influential paper in disseminating as much as possible the necessity and desirability of acclimatisation to New Zealand.
