The cutter Martha,* which arrived at Port Chalmers from Melbourne, on Sunday last, is intended to be used as a water-tank for the service of vessels lying in the port, having for a number of years been applied to the same purpose in Hobson's Bay. Though not such a venture aa the passage of the little Fly, ■which arrived from Melbourne some time ago, to attempt the voyage from Port Phillip to Port.Otago, in such a tiny craft as the Martha, required no little courage on the part of those who own her and sailed her down, but they are likely to find a reward for the risk in pretty constant employment, as the Port has not hitherto been supplied with so complete a means of water conveyance for shipping.
