HOSPITAL, TUAPEKA.
We understand that the gentlemen who interested themselves in collecting subscriptions for the above charitable institution, have been so far successful as to obtain about £150. As several lists have bsen .intrusted to; gentlemen inDunedin, it is to be hoped they will do their utmost to collect as large .'i sum as.possible, in order to secure the subsidy already promised by ths Government. Tho pursuit of minim*- is always a dangerou* one', and attended, more or less, by risk to. life and limb. It is, therefore, most necessary to provide assistance on the spot, for those who are so unfortunate as to meet with accidents. To the poor fellow who has a broken limb, the journey over the road from; Tiiapeka to Dunedin must be horrible. No time should, therefore, be lost in establishing an institution in which such accidents could ha treated at once and on the spot, so as to obviate the necessity of a certainly painful, and.in many instances fatal, journey.
