TUESDAY, 12TH NOVEMBNER.

The first motion of importance, on Tuesday, was one by Mr. Gillies, that a respectful address be presented to his Excellency the Govenor, praying for the dissolution of the present Council, which after some debate (in which Messrs. Reynolds and Dick supported the motion) was negatived, without a division. Mr. Dick: then asked the Government what rate of interest they had paid to the Oriental and Bank of New South Wales, on the Province account, overdrawn. Mr. Walker replied 10 per cent. The following resolutions were agreed to in Committee of supply: Ist. One empowering the Government to return the school fees for the last half year to the Teachers.

2nd. One authorising the Superintendent to make any expenditure on the gold fields, over and above the sums voted, that he might consider necessary.

3rd. One empowering the Superintendent to expend £500, in addition to the sum already voted for the road between Port Chalmers and the North-east Valley. The blank in the appropriation "Ordinance" wa-* then filled up by the insertion of the .sum of £175,508, lis. 10d., but on the motion for the second reading of the Bill Mr. Dick moved that the House adjourn, until the accounts for the last half year are audited, which was negatived, on a division of 12 to 7. A second motion of the same nature also shared a simi> ar fate. Messrs. Reynolds and Kilgour having declined to act as Auditors any more, Messrs. Tayler and M'Glashan were appointed in their stead, after which his Honour entered and prorogued the House.
