ENFIELD PUBLIC LIBRARY.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting for the election of a committee for the Enfield Public Libray was held in the Public Hall on Saturday evening. The retiring chairman, Mr T. Begg, presided,, but there was only a fair attendance of the subscribers and general public. The secretary, Mr W. Carson, read the annual report and balance-sheet. This showed a credit balance of £6 13s 6d, and also showed that 71 new books had been added to the library during the year. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the reports, referred to the lack of interest that was taken by the public, but hoped that the placing of so many good books in the library would lead to a large increase in the membership. The following committee was elected for the ensuing twelve months: —Chairman, Mr W. Leytham; secretary, Mr W. Carson; treasurer. Mr T. Begg; with Messrs J. Allan. J. Diver, A. Martin, and G. Dennis on the committee. Mr T. Common was again elected librarian. The annual subscription was fixed at five shillings. It was also decided to dispose of several of the old volumes in the library, and to replace them by obtaining a. still larger - number of the latest novels.
