The Committee of the above met this afternoon at the Comity Council Chanibbers, there being ir •good attendance. Mr II S. Orbell (president) occupied the chair. ■ Messrs Murray Roberts, writing; on behalf of Messrs Robert Campbell and Sons, intimated, that, owing to the sale of their various properties, the latter s subscript ions would be discontinued Received. Tlio secretary of the North (Hugo Benevolent Society wrote thanking the Association for passes for the old people to tho late show.—Received. A sub-committee, consisting of -Messrs Mitchell, O'Brien, Uardiner, and Anderson, was set up to consider a suggestion from the Cantcrburv Agricultural and Pastoral Association that the Draught Horse Stud Hook should be closed, and that it was expedient, to form a-Draught Horse Breeders' Association of New Zealand, the committee to report to the annual'meeting. A •gentleman' in England, who-did not wish "his identity disclosed, offered the Association (through Mr 0. W.- Held) a donation of ~£s,' to be expended in any way the Committee thought Hi.—Received with thanks. Mr W.IK. Uoodson, at the ;-.piosl ot the Committee, attended to explain his action (complained of by Mr-Frew) in tying his cow's teats in connect ion with tiie milking competition at the late show. Mr Uoodson iiuestioned the right ot the Committee to take action in the matter in the absence of a protest. He asked if ho was at the risk of losing the prize money bv his explanation? The Chairman said the Committee desired an explanation. Mr Uoodson (continuing) said lie did nut. mind making an explanation, only he did not wish to gel at cross purposes Willi the Committee. In the morning, wishing to make sure he would secure all the milk, there being no pegs, he lied the rope to the side of the shed. Mr Brownlee said lie still considered Mr Uoodson entitled to the prize m connection with the competition, \vhich_ was carried out under the supervision of the stewards. He moved: "That the motion am-ecd to at last meeting regarding the prize, money for the milking competition bcin-f withheld bo rescinded, and that the prize be awarded to Mr Uoodson; and that iu future the regulations regarding milking competitions be made more explicit." Mr Anderson seconded the motion, which was carried.

Accounts amounting to £7 19« 9d were passed, for payment. The Finance Committee recommends! that the Association's land on tin- cast side, of the show ground be retained in the meantime, and "also that a caretaker's cot I ago be erected inside the show ground. In connection with the proposal to erect a caretaker's cottage, the Chairman intimated, that 18 panes of glass had been broken in the grandstand, apparently by pellets shot from catapults. In the absence of Mr W. Gardiner, Jan., Mr I). Sutherland moved a motion of which the former had given notice, as follows :—"That the ten-acre paddock on the east side of the railway line be disposed of forthwith at a price to be lixcd bv the Finance Committee." Mr Sutherland said Mr Gardiner was prompted by a feeling that hi the present state of the Association's (inances it would lie best in sell the land.

The motion was seconded by Mr Mit chell. - • .

Mr B. Seth-Smith moved an amendment to the effect that it lie a recommendation to the incoming Committee to consider the disposal of the land. Mr Little seconded the amendment, which was declared carried as against the motion.

Mr 'J'. Little drew attention to a statement that had been circulated at Ihe show (lint- the sheep exhibited by himself were not his bona lide properly. He had been showing for 30 years, and 'lie resented such an accusation very keenly, lie produced a receipt for the sheep, which be asked the Chairman to peruse and hand round.
