ANOTHER ABSCONDING DEFAULTER.
(Pjsr Press Association.) Christchurcli, February 3. A warrant has been issued for tiie arrest of the manager of a local coal company, and it is stated that news regarding liis whereabouts would be welcomed by • several creditors, as well as the shareholders in the company. He seems to have left Christchurcli on Wednesday last, and as he did not return by the end of the week, an investigation was made into his affairs. It was found: that the company's'books and documents that should have been kept under his charge were missing. Further inquiry showed there had been defalcations of a serious nature. The police are endeavoring to ascertain what has become of the man, but so far without success. It seems quite probable he has left Xew Zealand," but no substantial clue to his movements has been secured. Meantime steps are being taken to ascertain the position of the company's accounts. Up to the present it has not been possible to secure exact figures as to the extent of the defalcations, but it is understood some business men have been victimised to the extent of a considerable sum of money.
