THE TITTELL BRUNE SEASON.
To jii.'ht. at the Opera House. Miss Tit-t.-'.l I'.inne, supported by Mr Thos. Kingston and J. t'. Williamson's combined Dnmalic I'ompa.-iy, will inaugurate a two-ni-ht season 'in Oamaru. "The Girl of the G.,!d-n West." a play by David iSela—o. the famous American playwright and iiuina.'er. will be staged. The. piece, as may be gathered from the title, has to do 'with the i-oa-h and ready diggers of an Ameri. an 'mining camp. The place is known as Cloudy .Mountain, where, with the exception of a squaw woman, a young iiil is the only female inhabitant. She is propiiein-s.s of the Polka saloon, andattends to the wants of the boys. She is known to all as "The Girl.'' and is worshipped bv one and all of the rugged diggers. "The Girl"- loves "Dick -Johnson." an outlaw, and is in turn loved by
".Ja.-k Ran..-"' (the'sheriff), who .naturally hates "Johnson." by reason of jealousy and also on a. count of his being an evildoer. Th" sheriff nearly comes, to the undoing of a charming low story. Miss Prune as "The Girl" is said fo'be at her best: in the comedy scenes she is delightful, and provides a fine study of a wild girl of the West. The caste includes Messrs Thomas Kingston. Boring Feriiie. Greghan Mae.Mahon. T. W. Lloyd. Leonard Willey. Roland Staveley. Redge Carey, Frey Cambourne. Frank Harcourt. Harry Sweeney, Norman-M'Keown. L. Hardings. and 'Miss Adele Kelly. To-morrow evening the season will conclude with a romantic comedy, "Diana of Dohson's." Mrs Robert Brough will appear in this product-ion.
