WANGANUI RACES. (by telegraph.) Wanganui, October 29. Wanganui Stakes Handicap, of 150 sovs Hailstorm 1 Opawa 2 Rocket ... ... ... 3 Astronomer, Ottawa, My Dream, Mary Stuart, and Wilberforce also started. Hailstorm and My Dream were made the favorites at 3to 1. Wilberforce made the running for a mile, then Rocket assumed command, with Hailstorm second. Entering the straight, Hailstorm challenged the leader and gradually wore him down, winning by a length. Opawa came with a rush at the" finish, and beat Rocket for second place by a head. Time, 4 mins. 7f sees. Railway Plate, of 50 sovs. Hailstorm 1 Redeemer 2 Soukar ... 3 Five started. Hailstorm ran very gamely and won by half a length. Soukar never could get up, and finished a bad third. Time, 2 fnins. 47J sec 3. Consolation Stakes. My Dream . ... ... ... 1 Rocket ... ... ... 2 Opawa... ... ... ... 3 A very fast race, with a good finish. The weather was beautifully fine and the attendance large for a Spring meeting.
