Davy, R.M., has beeii appointed Mr. Mansford's successor pro tern. DUNEDII^, ' October 13. The prisoner Ah Lee still asserts his innocence of the murder of Mrs. Youug. He is daily visited by Mr. Torrance, the gaol chaplain, and was this afternoon, seen by Messrs. Rowlatt and Albert Leung Chuhgee. He continues in -good, health, but does not seem to rsa,li§e his unfortunate position, Bishop Hevill and Bishop Moran were present at Mr, Proctor's lecture last'night, and at its conoliislon Father O'Mallev, S.J,, interviewed Mr. Proctor, and asked him, if he had a spare evening, to lecture at the Convent, as the Sisters could not attend a public lecture. The supply of fat cattle was under the average, but the demand was languid, and there was a decline of 2s 6d per. 100 lb. Best beef, 22s 6d per 100 lbs. Fat sheep, in wool, 2£d per lb; shorn, l|d. There was a moderate supply. Fat lambs, 6s 9d to §s. Horace Bastings, M.H.R., has resigned his seat on the Otago Land Board.

Cunning, ham and Go, At the meeting of the Local Industries Association to-day, resolutions were passed adverse to the conduct of" the Lvtteltoii Harbor Board in allowing boilers for dock engines to be made at Home, and of the Cathedral Commission for sending Home an order for 800 chairs for the Cathedral. Negotiations re Patetere, between the Government, and private purchasers are concluded. The terms are' that the latter shall deposit LII,OOQ seourity for Government advances, upon whioh the pre-emptive proclamation will be withdrawn. The Association will'pass the land through the Court and secure the title. The Government will probably select 20,000 acres in lieu of the LII,OOQ, and return the deposit. It is also b'@U&?ed that the Association is hound to put up the blocks of hwd tor sale in reasonable sise3, and offer 25 per cent, of the best land on deferred payments by auction. The. survey'of 100,000 acres, for which Messrs. Dilworth and Howard tiating,; is proceeding. A private cablegram, reports that Adelaide flour hag risen to HO 10s. Joe, the murderer, has lost his anpetise, and has become timid and reserved.
