GENERAL SUMMARY. The French Jesuits have made two settlements in Wales. Harvest proceedings are going on rapidly in Ireland ; nearly one-half of the land is cleared. The strike of the nailmakers in Worcestershire has been abandoned, from want of co-operation. Dr. Tait, Archbishop of Canterbury, is reported as being about to marry a well-: known society lady.

The figures are startling, and the outlook is discouraging. A convention has been oalled to discuss this question, and will meet at Bostpn on 6th October. It is estimated that 200,000 Americans who have gone abroad this season have spent and left in England ten million dollars.
