A DEPARTED DEBTOR.
(by telegraph.) Auckland, September 10. At the Supreme Court, before IVJp, Justice Richmond, Mr. Jjj. ££eakeitji presented a petition foi' an p.f ad judical tion in bankruptcy in the case of "James Berry P/jbinson, Auckland Clothing Company. The proceedings were ex parte, the debtor having left the Colony. It appears that about a month ago the debtor intimated to several creditors that he was anxious to go to Sydney to replenish his stock, and he left Auckland. He did not return at the time stated, and one of the signs which suggested that the debtor- had a further pbject }n view that the name over the place of business was changed. Some inquiry was instituted, and it was found that the debtor, although he had given information of his going to Sydney, had not made known the arrangement he had effected. It was found he had sold his business and stock to Mr, Cuthbertson. The principal (nrestp,rg in Auckland aye and MfArtliur and Co. The amount of the Auckland debts is inconsiderable. The principal debts a-rp stated to have been cqntfaflted at the other side. His Honor granted the prayer of the petition. The Geelong Company are the largest creditors.
