To-day's quotation for New Zealand wheat, 445, should be ex ship, not c.f.i., as previously telegraphed. August 2G. Shipments of wheat from Ameripa to England are now diminishing.
Hanlon is expected to arrive in England on the 15th September to go into training for the race with Trickett. It is contemplated to hold a grand demonstration of ships of the British invvy at one of the English ports at an early dato,

At the wool sales to-day 9300 bales were offered, making a total of 81,700 bales catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale showed an animated demand. 7000 bales were v/ithr drawn from sale.
The Eight Hon. Mr. Gladstone has started for a cruise on the coast of Ireland and Scotland, for the purpose of recruiting his health. Whitechapel Church lias been burnt down. The cricket match Australians against eighteen of Stockport, at Stockport, was commenced to-day. The Home team went first to the wickets, and were alfVlisposed of for 132 runs. The. Australian team then went in for their first inmngs, and when the stumps were diuvm/or the day had lost seven wickets foKoS runs. Spofforth, Blackham, and Slight were absent. The Standard this morning published a telegram reporting that a serious defection was taking place from the troops of the new Ameer, Abdur Rahman, in fayor pf Yakoob Khan's party at and of Ayqub at Candahar.
A report is current at Plymouth today that the troop ship Serapis is to be fitted to convey the Prince and Princess of Wales to Melbourne, and that a detached squadron and the Bacchante will accompany their Royal Highnesses. A telegram has been received to-day, announcing that a terrific hurricane has passed over Jamaica, in the West Indies, and has caused great damage' throughout the island. A thousand persons have been rendered, houseless, and are starving. In the port of Kingston forty wrecks have occurred owing to the force of the storm. Calcutta, August 27.
News has come to hand that a mutiny has broken out among the troops of the Khan of Khelat, in Beloochistan, and orders have been given for a wing of one of the Highland regiments stationed at Quettah, to pro? ceed to the assistance qf the Khan without delay. Constantinople, August 27.

Intelligence has just come to hand that another sortie has been made by the British troops at Candahar, directed to the eastward of the city, but owing to a strong position being taken up by Ayoub Khan's forces, which were strongly reinforced, the British troops were obliged to retire.
