OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.
The annual meeting of this Board was held on the 18th inst. Present —Messrs. Henderson (Chairman), Morton, Mitchell, Reid, Anderson, Scott, Watson, Morrison, and Ross. On the motion of Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr.'Mitchell, the minutes of the last meeting were adopted as read. The outward correspondence was read and approved. A latter from the Kakanui Road Board was read asking if this Board would take joint action in requesting the County Council to take over the Kakanui Bridge. —On the motion of Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, it was agreed to do so. The Chairman lodged his protest against this decision. The balance-sheet for the year ended March 31st was read, and on the motion of Mr. Mitchell, seconded by Mr. Anderson, adopted. Mr. Morton moved that Mr. Anderson be elected Chairman; seconded by Mr. Mitchell. *- An amendment moved by Mr. Ross and seconded by Mr. Anderson that Mr. Diehl should be elected was carried by 6 to 3. Mr. Morton proposed and Mr. Mitchell seconded that both the Treasurer and Clerk be re-elected. It was resolved that the Clerk advertise that after 30 days the Board will remove all gorse from the district roads at the expense o$ the adjoining owners, if not previously done by them. Mr, Ross moved that all expenses, other than for works, be charged to the different sub-divisions in proportion to their several incomes ; seconded by Mr. Morrison. Mr. Mitchell moved as an amendment, that the matter lie over till next meeting; seconded by- Mr. Morton.—The motion ca?ried by 4 to 2. iin aocount of LlO for broad-leaf covers for culverts presented by Mr. M'Donald was, on the motion of Mr. Morton, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, ordered to lie over pending further examination^ A vote of thanks to the Chairman brought the meeting ta a olose.
