HAMPDEN ROAD BOARD.

The annual meeting of the Hampden Road Board was held on the 18th instant. Present Messrs. Culling (Chairman), Henderson, Gillies, Andrew, M'Keirow, Munro, and Hodgson. The minutes of tiie last meeting were read and confirmed. Moved by Mr. Munro, and seconded by Mr. Hodgson, "That Mr. Joseph Culling be re-appointed Chairman to the Board for the current year.—Carried. Moved by Mr. Gillies, and seconded by Mr. Andrew, "That Mr. A. M'Kerrow be re-appointed Treasurer to the Board, for the current year.—Carried.

A letter from Mr. Watt. Auditor, was read informing the lsoard that he had audited the books of the Board, and found them correct as far as he could ascertain ; also, he reported that Mr. Willianm Murcott attended at the auditing 5 of the accounts as a ratepayer, and took exception to certain expenses in connection with the j commonage, boring rods, and law expenses in connection with the borough, &c., which he wished him to disallow. But as the ordinance leaves it optional with the auditor, he did not think himself called upon to interfere. The letter was received. The Clerk read the balance-sheet, and on the motion of Mr. Munro, seconded by Mr. Andrew, it was adopted as read. A letter was read from the General | Crown Lands Office, Wellington, informing the Board that they have no power to grant timber licenses on commonage.— Received. A letter was read from Mr. Henry Livingston, auditor, requesting to be supplied with certain accounts of the Board on 7th September, 1879. Moved by.Mr. Henderson, and seconded by Mr. Sl'Eerrow, " That the Board adhere to theii^ previous resolution re auditing of accounts by Mr. Livingston." Carried. Mo-tfed by Mr. M'Kerrow, and seconded by Mr, Munro, "That application be made to Government, requesting them to vest in the Board all gravel reserves in the district." Resolved, " That the sub-committee for Chalgrove examine the embankments at Wiuterburn bridge, with power to erect fences on same, and to repair portion of Bagdad road j also that they call for tenders for about S chains of gravel on Finch'a road, tenders to be in by next j meeting," Resolved, "That the sub-committee for Chalfont be empowered to get gravel laid on top of pipe culverts on Kartigi road." Moved by Mr, Henderson, seconded by Mr. M'Kerr&w, "That the Clerk inform the Board at each meeting the amount of rates collected during the month," Mr. Calling, Returning Officer, reported that he had been elected a member for the Chalfont sub-division. Accounts amounting to L 57 9s 5d were passed for payment.
