REDUCTION OF TEACHERS' SALARIES.
(bt telegraph.), JjtTSEDrs", August 5. The Education Board ha 3 adopted a scale of redactions in salaries ranging from 7k to 10 per cent., to take immediate effect Timarc, August 5. At a meeting of the South Canterbury Board of Education to-day, the following schedule of reductions in teachers' salaries, was agreed to, in consequence of the redaction in the education rate :—Salaries untW LSO to be exempted from reduction ; over LSO and under LIOO, reduced 1 per cent. ; over LIOO and under Ll5O, S per cent.; Ll5O to L 200,9 percent.; L2OO to L 250,10 per cent.; L 250 to L3OO, 11' percent.; L3OO to L 350,12 per cent. The bonus to masters for successfully passing pupil teachers is to be reduced 50 per cent. Payment for instruction of single pupil teachers is to be reduced 25 per cent. The inspector's salary is to be reduced 12 per cent. Incidentals to school committees are to be reduced by 33 per cent.
