BRUTAL MURDER AT THE KYEBURN.

(by telegraph.) Dcsedin, August 4. A fearful tragedy occurred last night at ryeburn diggings. Mrs. Young, a highly respected elderly widow, living alone, but w iti Chinese miners in proximity, was found brutally maltreated, and died this afternoon. She was conscious for a few minutes only. Great distress is felt throughout the district. Robbery appears to be 3 the motive, as the contents of the deceased' 3 purse were taken, together with her watch and trinkets. The house iai been broken into with stones, two of which, were found inside, marked with Hood. The murdered woman was in good circumstances, and was universally irapected.
