CHARGE OF PERJURY AGAINST MR. REES,

(by telegraph.) Gisborne, June 29. The charge of perjury against Mr. W. L. Rees was continued to-day. The charge was that an affidavit of the indebtedness of Cooper made by Rees was false. At the outset of the inquiry Mr, Rees assured the Bench that he declined to avail himself of any technical objections, and that unless, the Magistrates were fully- convinced of his innocence, they should suffer him to be committed. The case was dismissed, no evidence being called for the defence.
