POLITICAL INTELLIGENCE.
(by telegraph.) (from our own correspondent.) Wellington, July 26. It is stated that the Ministry will agree to an amendment in the Licensing Bill, continuing the bottle license system in Otago and Nelson, where it is now in force.
Only three Ministers had seen the report of the Commission on Railways yesterday, and the report has not yet come from the Governor with instructions to lay it on the table. It is doubtful whether it will be presented to the House to-day. Mr. Oliver will make his Public Works Statement about Friday, or at latest on Tuesday week. The final report of the West Coast Commission will be laid on the table this day or to-morrow. It recommends-the fulfilment of all promises made by the previous Governments to Sir George Grey's, and thie settlement of the Waimate Plains question on the basis recommended by Mr. Sheehan. The Premier to-day, in moving that Wednesday's be devoted to Government business, expressed the belief that if this was coincided, in, and. if members were less communicative, the session would be completed by the end of August.
