DUNTROON.

(ifROJt OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) July (3. The Duntroon School Committee met on Monday evening, when there was a full attendance. The following report from the schoolmaster was read : Appended 13 the report of attendance for the quarter ending 30th Jnne last. It must be satisfactory to the Committee to notice that the number of scholare is gradually creeping np to a respectable total; and further, that the rapid multiplication of "little images of sin taking place around Us affords good ground for hoping to see the roll boa.it of three figures at a comparatively early date. In regard to general advancement, the disproportion of so many young ohildren, necessarily demanding mnch time *nd patience, renders any very marked progress of the whole school difficult to notice. Only by carefully comparing the attainments of past quarters with the present can true progress be measured ; and I am persuaded that under this test the scholars will not be found wanting.—Yours, &c. T. H. Meekim;, Schoolmaster. On the roll, iS boys, IS girls; total, 36. Total attendance, 2000 boys, 1694 girl 3; total, 3754. Average daily attendance, 11*41 boys, 13*73 girls; total, 31*14. Largest attendance on any half day, 18 boy 3, If .v-ia; total, 35. 'The Committee expressed their very great satisfaction at the good attendance, and complimented the master on the substantial progress of the school. Several accounts were passed for payment -as follow Fencing, L 9 ; chandelier, L 5 7s jjd; cleaning the school, *lll 10s. The Treasurer's report was handed in and adopted. Owing to the reduced state of the funds, the Committee unanimously resolved to ask Mr. W. Sutherland to deliver a lecture in aid of the school, and should that gentleman kindly accede to request,"i feel qnite snre Jhat our •Duntroon folk will receive a treat. The Church Committee met at the close of the School Committee's meeting, several matters were discussed, and it *as resolved to rent a house for the clergyman until such time as funds could raised to build a parsonage.
