THIS RAY; (Before T, W. Parker, Esq., R.M.) DRUNKENNESS.

James Robinson, for being drunk and disorderly, was discharged. Peter Lawson, charged with being drunk and disorderly, was fined ss, with the usual alternative.

James M'Lean was fined 10s, or 48 hours's ' imprisonment. A charge of habitual drunkenness preferred against the same prisoner, was adjourned.

PROFANE LANGUAGE. James Robinson, for making use of profane language, was ordered to pay a fine of 40s, with the alternative of going to gaol for sis days with hard labor.

BREACHES OF BYE-LAWS. John C. Black was fined 8s for allowing two horses to wander at large. Frederick Bust was charged by thq Inspector of Nuisances with allowing his licensed cab to stand in Thames-street onthe night of the 24th inst. without having the required two lamps lighted, and was fined 2s. !' ... ADULTERATED MILK^ Gilbert Coles, servant to Mr. Fred Oollis, was charged with selling adulterated milk. The evidence of Sergeant Beatty, Inspector of Weights and Measures, went to show that he had purchased the milk on the rooming of the 25th May, and had at once sealed it up in a bottle, which was in his possession until he handed it to Professor Black in Dunedin for analysis. Professor Black's analysis showed that there was 18 per cent, of water mixed with the sample. The witness was severely crass-examined by Mr. O'Meagher, but nothing material was elicited §xaept the fact that at the time the sarnple was obtained Sergeant Beatty only told the seller that he was going to have the milk analysed, but did not give the full wording of the section of the Adulteration of Food Act under which the information would be laid. On this point Mr. O'Meagher spoke, very strongly in defence, and stated that he had witnesses in waiting prepared to prove that no water at all had ever been put in the milk,.
