Sir William Fox is apparently sorely agitated abont certain matters in relation to thi "New Zealand ISnd" Company.'-"- lii the Honse of Representatives ' yesterday.;', he, gave-notice-that he would.ask the .GoveriiT ment whether or not they had seen published" in the EcSndoti Times the prospectus of the New Zealand Land Company, with the name Of Mr. Bathgate as one of the directors, and and a.s to whether Sir. Bathgate went Home on • private affairs or on' ptfblic' business. Sir "William apparently scents something very wrong about this matter, and we shall no doubt be treated ere long to one of his dissertations on corrupt practices. It is somewhat awkward for the worthy Knight that the 'two men, Sir Julius' Vogel and Mr." • John Bathgate, whose connection with the New Zealand Company at Home has' occasioned some amount of unfavorable.comment-in-the House, should have been colleagues of Sir William Fox •in ; hi* last Ministijy.. What ,-Very, bad/ company Sir William! niust; •have kept in the'days of 'his political' glpry, ; •and how thankful he must be at being relegated to theposition of a private member, jand so removddfrointhe" necessity of holding counsel with suchjnaughty men ! :
