Humkbotts inquiries are being made by those who wish to qualify themselves to take a part in the approaching election of a member for the district, as to whether they cannot get their names inserted on the roll even now. We understand that Ur FDleul has communicated with the Government about the matter. As the roll is already in the hands of the printers it would be impossible to place _on it any additional names in alphabetical order, and it is not likely that they will be ? laced on it in any other manner, t may appear to some that there has been undue haste in commencing the printing of the roll; but it should be remembered that there has been considerable uncertainty as to the time at which the election will take place, and the roll be required. Even now that uncertainty I»-ig not been removed, and the time that must elapse before the election can possibly occur will probably be sufficiently long to enable a supplementary roll to be printed for use onj that occasion, j recommend all who are anxious to register to lose no time in procuring the necessary forms, filling them up, and forwarding them to Mx. Filleul. It is -quite possible that Mr. Filleal may receive instructions to compile a supplementary roll. If he does not, however, inawwa sent in now will be in good time for the next roll.
