WAITAKI ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held yesterday, when there were present—Messrs. Connell (Chairman), Soiillle, Borrie, Procter, Johnston, Hall, Borton, Stewart, and Oliver (Engineer). After the usual preliminary business had been disposed of, a circular was read from the Under-Secretary for Public Works, asking for the usual statement of annual accounts of district expenditure. —The Clerk informed the Board that the request had been complied with. Mr. John Locke wrote stating that he had audited the Board's books for the year ending 31st March, 1880, and had found them correct.
Mr. A. Hutchison again wrote inquiring if the Board would put either pitching or a culvert on the road-line to take away storm, water. —The Engineer was instructed to have the matter attended to.
A report from the Engineer was read dealing with several matters. A tetter wa3 read from the manager of the Onion Bank of Australia referring to the agreement existing with regard to the terms on which the Board's current account is kept with the bank.—lt was resolved that the matter be left in the hands of the Chairman, to report on at a future meeting of the Board. In view of the annual election of members, the following gentlemen were appointed Returning Officers, provided they are willing to act :—Weymouth Subdivision, Mr. W. G- Wallace ; Papakaio, Mr. John Miilington ; Awamoko, Mr. J. M'Auley ; Landon, Mr. R. Garrow. Tenders for contract No. 82 were then opened, and that of W. Warwick was accepted at L 46 15s. The Engineers were instructed to peg off road-line through section 72, block 1, Ouma.ru district.
A number of accounts were passed for Payment, and the Board rose.
