Mail Office, Saturday afternoon. The new wheat has not yet made it 3 appearance in the market, bat the end of next week will probably see the commencement of the busy season. Few transactions have yet taken place, aa both buyers and sellers are holding off, but yesterday 1000 bushels prime milling changed hands at 43 per bushel, f.o.b. » AUCTIONEER'S REPORT. Mr. A. H. Maude reports having held a safe of furniture, &c The attendance was large and the bidding spirited. Sofa, L 4 ; armchair, L2; chairs, 15s; carpet, L 3 12s fid ; and other thing 3at good prices. The salvage stock was withdrawn, pending arrangements between the insurance companies and the insurers. THE LABOR MARKET. Mr. Henry Macintosh reports for the week ending 12th March, as follows : Business ia the labor market has been very steady during the week. Harvestin? operations having got well advanced, the demand for ploughmen has started and all classes of servants are in demand, and the following are plentiful:—Married couples; shepherds, married or single; cooks, male or female; experienced managers for farms or stations ; book-keepers, storemen, and tradesmen of all Mads; also all kinds of hotel hand 3. The snpply greatly exceeds the demand at present. DUNEDIK. [BY TELEUnAPH.] March 12. Wheat, 4s to 4s 4d; fowls' wheat, 3a to 3s 3d; oats, Is 4d to Is 7d; barley, 5s to 5s 6d ; feed, 3s to 3s 6d ; potatoes, L 3 10s to L 4, according to quality; round do, L 3; old hay, L 4; new oaten hay, L 3 5s : chaff, L 3 10s : straw, X2; bran, L 4; pollard, L 3; flour, large sack 3, Lll to Lll 10s; oatmeal, Lll ; pearl barley, L 2 6; onions, 7s; new cheese, 5d to 6d; bacon, rolled, lOd; do, sides, hams. Is. Prime fat beef, 22s 6d; mutton, IJd. TIMARU. (From to-day's Herald.) Transactions in the grain market still continue very light, owing to small deliveries. Reaping operations are now nearly over, but threshing work is very much behind. Prices continue nominally at 3s 3d to 3s 6d and 3s 7d for wheat, 3s for barley, and Is 3d for oats. The majority of the samples of wheat, which have so far come to hand, are certainly not so good as they might be, thongh there are some first-rate lots as well. The extremely unsettled state of the weather ia keeping both cutting and threshing back, •and it will be another fortnight at least Ibefore deliveries of grain become general.
