Won by two lengths. Clarence, [ Gazette, Rangatiri, Stella, Grey Momus, Hardy, and Penelope also ran. It was a very pretty race. Clarence made the running, but fell at the last hurdle. Grey Momus looked formidable, but his rider fell off half a mile from home, when Clarence fell. Te Whetu had ho difficulty in stalling off a rush made by Mata. Time—4min. 44£ sec. The betting was in favor of Momus and Clarence.
