MESRRS. CONNELL AND CLOWES' SEED CLEANER.

To-day we were much interested by an inspection of a patent American seedcleaning machine, which has just been fitted up by Messrs. Connell and Clones, in their stores, Tyne-street. No kindj of agricultural seed comes amiss to it; but at the time of our inspection it was operating upon rape seed, which was impregnated with oats, dock, sorrel, and other rubbish. A set of sieves,; to which are given an oscillating movement,, do the work. The wire of these is. so adapted that the eliminated foreign ingredients are turned out at different portions of the machine; ihe seed itself being received in a bag, not only purged from the deleterious dock, sorrel, &c., but relieved from all weakly' and broken seeds of its own kiijid.' We are informed that 200 bushels \of grass, or two tons and a quarter of rape, seed, can be put through this machine inan ordinary working day. The motive power used is an Otto noiseless gas engine, the most efficient, handy, and inexpensive motive powor extant. These appliances; for effecting such a good purpose are well worth seeing as specimens of mechanical ingenuity. But their principal attraction is that they perform services the benefits of which to agriculturists are beyond cur powor of computation. ;
