The Board went into Coinmittee to consider matters in connection with the LIOOjOOO loap, . ; . After (i little discussion, it was'resolved an the motion of tlie Hon. R, QampbeU, seconded by the Hon. H. J. Miller, "That the tjuestiop of railway rates for grain lae referred' to the Standing Committee, with power to act." It was resolved-to telegraph to the Got vernment, asking that the amount received m.a upon .the .sale of the lease of the BoardV' endowment 1 , L 3085, being the,first year's.r.ent, paid in advance; might' be remitted *£6' "the Union Banl?- td th§.cvedit qf the ' " Appoints tfi'the afnourit' of L 1342 were passed for paypient. The annual report was read, approved of, and referred to the Standing Committee for the insertion of certain paragraphs; The statement of estimated receipts and. expenditure for the year was read, shbwr. inpj an estimated revenue of L14,427|65, and an estimated expenditure of L 10,300. A legal opinion from Messrs. Hislop. and Creagh, solicitors to the read, stating that t}ie tenant? of the B.qar.d, were clearly not responsible for the l&,nd tax, and that the Board would have to pay. It was then resolved on the motion of the Hon. H. J. Miller, seconded! by the Hon. R. Carogbell, tp qf th§ pay the |;ax. Tp this Mr. stpongly objected, and asked tq have his objection reoorded. The Board then rose.
