The Oamaru Mail. WITH WHICH IS INCORPORATED THE NEW ZEALAND AGRICULTURIST. THURSDAY JANUARY 8, 1880.

T»nt two gentlemen who were appointed a# » deputation from a number of Lincoln* * ahire farmers are now in the act of spying ■ oot the advantages that this Colony offers to pf*"* farmers. The memorial which was prewnted to Messrs. Grant and * Foster, who compose the deputation, con- ■' tented the names of about 500 signatures, representing upwards of 120,000 acres of . land fa Lincolnshire. We learn that Mfiw- Grant and Foster are thoroughly ' practical farmers, and can appreciate agri- * I advantages when they come under • their observation. We hope that they will not, therefore, come to any decision until they have seen the lands of this part of the Colony, it is desirable that they be here sometime during the period will elapse between now and harrrvt Nothing in the North can compare vith what we can show here, and we . persuaded that a little extra price wouldnot deter them from securing some , of our fertile lands, especially as they arc to be secured on such favorable terms as to payment. Every good farmer know* thai; bad land is not cheap at any price, and good land, such as that in this - port of the Colony, is a blessing instead oi meaxte. The ordinary procedure in the ~ art of cultivation fails in the case of lud land, and fanners cannot now-a-days indulge in the luxury of too much science. We trust that the Lincolnshire deputation wiD be invited to visit us before coming iamj decision.
