o (FROM OUK OWN" COIUtESI'ONDENTS.) DUNEDIN. October 21. The divorce case White v. White and M'Lelliind lias been dismissed, owing to the petitioner not being prepared to proceed. At the Fire Brigade annual dinner Captain Murphy made some strong remarks on the Press for its comments on the Octagon fire without inquiring into the facts. Mr. G. W. Eliott, who was foreman of the Waters jury, in replying to the toast of the insurance agents, said that everybody had been blamed but the right person. The jury were unanimously of opinion that the evidence did not justify them sending the man to the gallows.
