CiiKTsxciiUßCH. September 11. Mr. Moorhouse was returned for Ashley. The numbers were :—Moorhouse, 337 ; Fendall, 272 Cunningham, CO. Hie election was decided for Moorhouse by a special train from Christchurch, which took up 70 voters, and Cunningham's candidature, of course, damaged the Liberal cause. The result was expected. Auckland, September 11. Bay of Islands election : —Williams, 13S : Katene, 117 ; M'Leod, 64 ; i undon, 259. Franklin election : -Messrs. Kamlin and Harris' present majority is nearly 400. Two returns have yet to come in. Marsden election :—Captain Colbeck is leading by a majority of 70 ; Mr. Bruce, second. A number of stations are yet to come in. There will bo several candidates for the seat at the Thames vacant by the election of Sir George Grey for Christchurch. Messrs. William Rowe and M. C. Owen are already out. The Northern Maori Electoral District returns up to the present give Mohi Tawhai, 397 votes; Taranga, 332 ; Puhipi, 303 ; Haaia, 133 ; and Tc Whiti, 204. A few more returns are yet to come in. September 12. It is stated that Mr. F. Whitaker will bo solicited to stand for the Thames seat, vacated by Sir George Grey. The Franklin election resulted as follows : —Hamlin, 949 ; Harris, 894; Hobbs, 505 ; Buckland, 443. The following is the result of the Marsden election :—Colbeck, 378 ; Brice, 179 ; Dargaville, 79. The Aratipu returns are to come in. Wellington, September 11. The following is the result of the election for the Wellington country districts: — Brandon, 241; Izard, 185; O'Neill, 123. Majority for Brandon, 56. Dun'eutn, September 11. Clatha election :—Thomson, 272 ;• Jowitt, 114. There was no "excitement, the result being expected. Nelson, September 12. * The numbers polled for Collingwood are :—Gibbs, 145 ; Huddleston, 131 ; Armstrong, 12.
