(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.) DUNEDIN. September 2. For the Bruce seat the nominations were—Messrs. Murray, Mosley, and Dyer. The latter had the show of hands. John Brennan, who was sentenced to imprisonment for life for assaulting a girl at Invercargill, died in the Dunedin gaol this morning, of heart disease. CHRISTCHURCH. September 2. At the Resident Magistrate's Court, Kaiapoi, E. Smart was committed for trial for an indecent assault on a Maori woman.
