(recter's telegram per press association.) Melbourne, August 21. An unexampled scene of violence took place in the Legislative Assembly last night between Mr. D. Gaunson, member for Ararat, and the Hon. J. B. Paterson, Minister for Public Works. A division on the Budget is expected to take place to-night. Sydxet, August 20. All the colliers resumed work to-day, pending the adoption of the decision to work eight days fortnightly instead of continuing the Vend system. The police and troops have left the mines, but remain at Newcastle for the present. Brisbane, August 20. The Legislative Assembly last night negatived a vote of want of confidence in the Ministiy by a majority of three. (SPECIAL TO PRESS ASSOCIATION".) Melboitknk, August 20. A large steamer has been chartered for England for a trial shipment of preserved meat from Sydney and Melbourne on the dry air refrigerating process. A London telegram, dated August 18, states that, owing to phylloxera and the rainy weather, the export brandy vintage has been destroyed. New Zealand barley, 7s 3d. Sailed—rßi ngarooma. August 21. A scene has occurred in Parliament. Mr. Gaunson accused Mr. Paterson of cattle dufling, called him a whelp, cur, and scoundrel, and bandied threats of violence. The Lancefield bank robbers say that the accountant was in abject fear, and the inhabitants disgracefully so. Stdney, August 21. Cotterel, inventor of the wreck-raising apparatus, proposes to form a company to raise bullion ships on the New Zealand coast.
