The miners from Adelaide, intended to work the mine, the men formerly engaged in which are locked out, have arrived here, but they decline to proceed to Newcastle. saying they were misled, and that they were not aware that the Yendites had struck. The difficulty has consequently been increased. Later. A large body of miners took possession of the Lambton mine, Newcastle, to prevent the non-Vendites working. A fight ensued, and firearms were freely used. One man was shot, and several others wounded. The police are hurrying to the scene. August 19. Lowe and Bray, the robbers of the Commercial Bank at Laucefield, have been captured at Sandhurst. Seven hundred pounds were found in their possession. The landlord of an hotel is implicated. The robbers are not ferocious fellows. One was captured asleep in the hotel and the other in the street. One hundred Artillerymen and a strong body of the police force have been despatched by a special steamer to Newcastle to drive the miners out and regain possession of the Lambton mine. They have a heavy supply of ball cartridges. The idle colliers propose four days' work weekly. This the managers refuse to agree to. The latest news from Newcastle states that during a mass meeting the miners vanished on the appearanse of the military.
