(FROM OUK OWN COIIKESI'ONDENTS.) DUXEDIN. August G. There will be a contest for the Lakes between Messrs. Macassey and Mr. Mason. Mr. Seaton does not seek re-election for Caversham. Mr. Barron again opposes Mr. Cutten for Taieri. The goods train from Oamaru collided last night with a shunting engine, near the Dunedin main station. The driver had overrun the signal distance, owing to the rails being slippery and the heavy train. The shunting engine only was damaged. In "Banco, Judge Williams held that the award in tho arbitration between Procter and Steward was invalid, and made the rule for setting aside the arbitration absolute, with costs against Steward. Several important judgments were given in Banco. In the case of Hodges v. Glass, the demurrer was allowed In the case of the Creditors' Trustees in Black's estate v. Watt and Neill, the point being as to the validity of the appointment of more than one "trustee, a nonsuit was ordered for the defendants. In the case Burke v. Colonial Bank, the rule was discharged, with costs, the verdict to stand for the plaintiff. j
